Two kinds of visiting students
Both register in similar ways, without applying.
Visiting Student
Taking a class for enrichment, for a program like EMT or Nursing Assistant, or while working on a degree at another college. You’re not seeking a degree at SCC.
Register directly in eServices once you have a StarID.
Senior Citizen
Minnesota residents 62 and older can take classes on a space-available basis. Tuition is free, though standard fees still apply.
You’ll pay an administrative fee per credit in place of tuition, plus regular fees like technology, materials, and textbooks.
Visiting Students
Three steps to register
No application, no admissions decision to wait on.
Search for classes
Visiting students register on a different schedule than students seeking a degree at SCC. Check the registration dates page for when you can register.
Register in
You’ll need a StarID to log in. If you’ve attended any Minnesota State school before, your existing StarID still works. If not, .
Submit payment
Pay online through eServices by the payment deadline to avoid being dropped for non-payment. Using a third party to pay? Use the paper registration form (PDF) and an Authorization for Payment form (PDF) instead.
You are a visiting student if:
- You want to take one or more classes without earning a degree, diploma, or certificate.
- You may be enrolled at another school right now
