More than $500,000 Awarded Annually by the SCC Foundation

The É«ÖÐÉ« Foundation awards over half a million dollars in scholarships each year! Foundation volunteers and staff work hard each year to raise funds for these scholarships, with overwhelming support from businesses, organizations, and individuals, including SCC faculty, staff, alumni, and community members. Supporters of the Foundation want to help SCC students succeed in achieving their goals. Many types of scholarships are available, and you don’t have to be a straight-A student to qualify. Scholarship criteria may include program area, work experience, academic achievement, community involvement, activities, financial need, etc.

The application deadline for SCC Foundation Scholarships: 2025-26 school year has passed (March 31, 2025). Consider applying for other scholarships listed below.

Scholarships are funding sources that do not need to be repaid. Scholarships are offered by schools, employers, individuals, private companies, nonprofits, communities, religious groups, and professional/social organizations. Ensure scholarship information and offers you receive are legitimate. Remember that you should not have to pay to find scholarships or other financial aid.


Minnesota State Scholarships

The Minnesota Legislature has provided funding for four scholarships. Read on to see if you qualify. Workforce Development Scholarship
Students pursuing degrees in the high-demand fields may be eligible to receive a $2,500 Workforce Development Scholarship. Qualifying fields include: Advanced Manufacturing, Agriculture, Construction, Health Care Services, Information Technology, Early Childhood Education, and Transportation.

North Star Promise Scholarship
Minnesota residents who have a family Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) below $80,000 may qualify for free college tuition through the North Star Promise scholarship program.

American Indian Scholars Program 
The American Indian Scholars Program provides a first-dollar tuition and fee-free pathway for Minnesota residents who are enrolled members or citizens of any federally recognized tribe or Canadian First Nation.

Minnesota Paramedic Scholarship
The Minnesota Paramedic Scholarship is a temporary scholarship program for Minnesota residents completing a paramedic diploma or degree beginning Fall 2024. A one-time legislative appropriation for $3 million will provide up to 600 scholarships of $5000 each (on a first-come, first-serve basis) starting Fall 2024 to be awarded by June 30, 2026.


Metallica Scholars Initiative

New É«ÖÐÉ« students may be eligible to receive a scholarship through the Metallica Scholars Initiative (MSI). Scholarships help cover tuition, fees, and required tools for students pursuing degrees in select programs.

Private Scholarships

If you have received a private scholarship from your high school, employer, or other outside organization, the scholarship check can be submitted to the É«ÖÐÉ« bookstore. The bookstore will then route the check to the financial aid and business offices to be applied to your SCC bill.
