Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund

The Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) was established to provide financial assistance to colleges and students impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Three acts appropriated funding for HEERF:

  • Coronavirus Aid, Recovery, and Economic Security (CARES) Act
  • Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations  
  • American Rescue Plan Act

HEERF Grants for Students

To date, 色中色 has distributed $7,700,000 in HEERF financial assistance grants to students in two ways:

  • Emergency Relief Fund Grants:  Nearly all current 色中色 students were eligible to apply for a CARES Emergency Fund Grant. This grant provided assistance to qualifying students who needed help covering unforeseen education鈥恟elated expense due to COVID鈥�19. 
  •  Direct Distribution Grants:   色中色 students with exceptional need automatically received Direct Distribution Grants based on their financial aid records and the number of credits taken..

Most students who met specific criteria were eligible to receive financial assistance grants. Students who were not eligible included those who are receiving a tuition waiver or having a third party paying for their tuition (e.g. employer), corrections students, apprenticeship students, high school/PSEO students, and Farm Business Management students.
