Pre/Corequisites
Prerequisite: Admission into the Paramedic Program. All Classes must be taken in sequence.

Course Competencies
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of a Paramedic within an EMS system and communicate effectively with patients and other members of the Health Care Team.
- Understand development, anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology and integrate it with assessment and management of emergency patients.
- Apply the basic concepts of pharmacology and be able to properly administer medications.
- Develop, execute and evaluate a management plan based on the field impression for the patient with cardiovascular disease.
- Develop, execute and evaluate a management plan based on the field impression for the patient with traumatic injury.
- Develop, execute and evaluate a management plan based on the field impression for the patient with a medical emergency.
- Develop, execute and evaluate a management plan based on the field impression for the patient with common complaints.
- Develop, execute and evaluate a management plan based on the field impression for neonatal, pediatric, and geriatric patients, diverse patients, and chronically ill patients.
- Safely manage the scene of an emergency.
