The one to beat. Could only be improved by having a few more crunchy bits in the filling and being served by Jeffrey Dean Morgan in the altogether fine.

Not too sweet, good texture, too small to be taken seriously by any of my brother-in-laws.

Very buttery pastry, which overpowers the mince flavour, puts it in a headlock and wrestles it to the floor. But otherwise delicious.

Very good for such a cheap pie but tastes a bit too much of oranges, for some reason. NB. Good for those who like oranges.

Both pastry and filling are too sweet, good for sugar-high needed to frenetically dance with nephews, filling bit gloopy.

Waaaay too buttery pastry. Filling bit rich. I choked on one and spat my tea on the carpet. This may not have been the pie's fault.

Pastry way too sweet. Boo from Monsters Inc. is a sour old crone in comparison.

Bit too sweet but not bad for wheat-free. However if you are not allergic to wheat there are far nicer things to put in your mouth.

Waaaay too sweet and crumbly. Mr.Kipling can make bakewell tarts and that's about it. He is rubbish pir-maker and should stick to books about bemused Jungle animals.

Disgusting. Pastry turns to flour in the mouth. Sickly sweet. Avoid avoid avoid. Would never eat again even if offered by Jeffrey Dean Morgan in the altogether fine.

    MINCE PIE 2009
WORLD CUP PIENALS
blocks_image
The rules: The mince pies must be round, pie-shaped mince pies made with short-crust pastries with full pastry lids, none of that lattice nonsense. Puffed or flaky pastry is yum but has no place in this competition.
